Marangu Lutheran Hospital (MLH) is a faith-based institution, belonging to the Evangelical Lutheran church of the Northern Diocese (ELCT-ND) in Tanzania. The hospital is licensed and granted by the Government of Tanzania, has valid license no: REG.NO 034015, under registrations of Voluntary Agency Hospitals (VAH) ACT no: 6 of the United Republic of Tanzania.
MLH is located at Marangu, a subdivision of Vunjo in Moshi District Council (MDC) in Kilimanjaro region. This area is situated on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro at an altitude of 1,525 meters above sea level at the north eastern part of Tanzania.
MLH is a medium sized hospital, with capacity of 80 beds. It provides various medical services including Outpatient services, Inpatient services, Dental services, Laboratory services, Imaging (Ultrasound and X- ray) services, Chaplaincy services, Major and Minor surgeries, Palliative care services, Care & treatment for HIV and TB patients, Blood donation services, Mortuary services, and Eye care services.
The MLH targets around 400,000 people of which majority inhabitants are peasants with low income from this area, the area coverage is about 430sqkms. These areas include; the east and west Marangu villages, the Mwika south and north villages, Mamba villages, Kilema villages, sub urban areas of Himo, Uchira and Holili. It also provides services to on- transit clients from surrounding tourist hotels, mountain climbing tourists, students and other referral patients from neighboring dispensaries and Hospitals. At large the hospital provides highly needed services to surrounding communities and other areas within MDC.
