Clinic and Community-based Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (CCBSRHR) Program

CCBSRHR is among the programs within the ELCT Health and Diakonia Directorate. The program started as a reproductive health project in the late 1990s and later expanded in terms of geographical location, areas of interest, and the engagement of stakeholders. Currently, the ELCT Health and Diakonia Directorate is implementing projects under this program in different areas of the country, both at the ELCT health facilities and in surrounding communities connected by the overall goal of the CCBSRHR program.

Aim of Programme

Improved access to SRHR information, education and services to address issues of maternal mortality, teen pregnancies, gender-based violence and harmful practices such as Female Genital mutilation (FGM), HIV/AIDS and other reproductive health issues.

Activities


  • Provision of health services through all the ELCT health facilities across the country.

  • Capacity building to health providers on SRHR

  • Facilitate supportive environments for the provision of services

  • Build the capacity of community resource persons such as Religious, traditional, and political leaders to be able to support the innovations at the facilities.

  • Conduct outreach activities for early screening and identification of Reproductive health Issues.

  • Strengthen bidirectional referral for SRHR information, education and services.


Archievements

Development of the communication strategy for religious leaders on issues of SRHR and GBV.
Engagement in advocacy activities for improved access to SRHR education, information and services.
Support the initiation/improvement of services such as youth-friendly services and male engagement in reproductive health services.
Development of male champions among church officials to champion the involvement of men in reproductive health services.
Develop and scale up special programs to improve the well-being of teen mothers and their children in different areas of the country.
Complement the Government efforts to end FGM.
Development and strengthened partnerships.

Support and collaboration with People living with HIV

(Romans 5:3-4) Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope

Gender-based Violence and Oppression to the Voiceless

(Exodus 22: 21-23): Do not mistreat or oppress a foreigner, for you were foreigners in Egypt. Do not take advantage of the widow or the Orphans. If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry.
